Jay Roth

SW Area Regional Representative

In the spring of 2015 Jay Roth joined Missouri Learning Forward as a Southwest Regional Representative of the Board of Directors. His goal is to leverage adult learning by developing individuals and groups in organizations to expand conversations, capabilities, and capacities for both self-directed and collaborative approaches to innovative thought and inquiry. Jay's service to public education began in 1992 in the secondary classroom as a high school mathematics teacher. Later as department head, and teacher leader at southwest Missouri’s first recognized Professional Learning Community high school, Jay became a teacher trainer of cooperative learning and multiple intelligences strategies. After completing a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education thesis in 2007 on the impact that learning communities have on the Missouri mathematics state assessment, Jay was recruited from the classroom by the Missouri Professional Learning Communities Project (MO PLC) at Missouri’s State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to work in the Southwest Regional Professional Development Center (SWRPDC) to train school administrators, leadership teams, and teachers in creating a collaborative culture dedicated to high levels of learning in their school. In 2014, Jay became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Lebanon R-III Public Schools where he brings his expertise as an accomplished professional developer in assessment, Mathematics Standards, and Polarity Thinking, as well as a trainer for Thinking Collaborative in both Adaptive Schools and Cognitive Coaching.
